Experience London from the top of the O2

A group of people doing urban mountaineering up the outside of the O2 arena.

There’s no lift, no escalator, and no-one to carry you. This is an experience that gets your blood pumping and your head in the great outdoors. It’s what we call Urban Mountaineering.

Boots on for Blesma – Virtual 10k

Picture shows two legs and boots. One is a normal leg with an army trouser over the top, but the other is a prosthetic leg.

Our events calendar is packed full of great events to get involved in this year, a few worth checking out include our brand new event Boots on For Blesma Virtual 10k.

We’ve picked the distance, you choose how you get there. Increase your fitness and raise money for Blesma at the same time in May by completing 10k your way. Challenge yourself, your friends and your colleagues by taking on 10k in May.

You could walk, jog, run, cycle, swim or wheel your way through the month to support Blesma. Cover the 10K in one go or break it up over the month – this is your challenge your way. Registration is £20 and every participant will receive a fundraising pack and an awesome ‘Boots on for Blesma’ medal.

If this event or any of the events from our calendar, such as Ride London or Great North Run spark your interest and you would like to find out more please contact the fundraising team on

Volunteering Opportunities

There are some runners, but the main focus is one audience members who may be volunteers.

We understand that taking on a challenge isn’t for everyone and having other ways to get involved with Blesma is important to our supporters and indeed to us.

There is a wide variety of events throughout 2019 that we are going to need volunteers to help us run, collect and cheer at. Events coming up in the next couple of months include:

24/03/19 – London Landmarks Half Marathon Cheer Point
28/03/19 – Canary Wharf Underground Station Bucket Collection
28/04/19 – London Marathon Cheer Point

Please contact Abbi in The Fundraising Team if you are able to attend any of the above on or 0208 548 7084.

2018 was a fantastic year for Blesma Bucketeers as you helped us to raise almost £30,000 so the bar is set high for our 2019 collections, which are set to kick off at Canary Wharf Underground station on Thursday 28th March.

Collection date:
Canary Wharf Thursday 28 March

We are looking for volunteers for time slots between 07:00 – 19:00 on Thursday 28 March

If you are free to get involved and would like to do a 2-3 hour shift (or more if you like) then please let us know what time you are available and your t-shirt size.

Please email or call Abbi on 0208 548 7084

The picture shows a disabled person in a sports wheelchair holding a rugby ball. There is an audience in the background.

This is James Simpson, James lost both his legs and part of his hand when he triggered an IED in Afghanistan ten years ago.

After being inspired by the London Paralympics, he started training with his local wheelchair rugby league team.

Now he is representing his country again as an England player and ambassador for the upcoming world cup.

For his work representing Wheelchair Rugby League, he has been nominated for a Soldiering On Award but needs your votes!
