“If music be the food of love, play on” is surely one of the bard’s most famous lines after “To be, or not to be” (and infinitely more optimistic). And like love, music can evoke a wide range of emotions – a three minute composition has the potential to change your mood, your mind, even your life. From a health perspective, music as a form of relaxation can be beneficial in reducing stress. It has an instant ability to transport the listener to another mind space which can act as a temporary distraction from the more challenging and unpleasant moments faced in everyday life.
