Adam Waller-Toyne – ONE SUPPORT
One support is commissioned by Essex CC to provide Housing related support in mid and north Essex with the intention of supporting people to maintain their accommodation and live independently. This is a free service open to anyone regardless of tenure or accommodation. One support employs a number of support officers who visit people in their own homes or in the community and work through a customer’s Goals to achieve positive outcomes. One Support also provides telephone advice and guidance as well as a number of drop-in surgeries in the community for instance at local Job centres or Foodbanks. There are a number of current challenges which we are supporting our customers to process, most notably the introduction of Universal Credit full service and the changes to Housing legislation that were introduced through the Homeless reduction act. Adam will be discussing the service, the issues facing our customers and the potential changes to support services.
