On the 18th of May, Sparks Will Fly (SwF), a piece of outdoor theatre commissioned by Essex County Council and Chelmsford Borough Council will begin celebrations for the Olympic torch to arrive in the county.
After 25 years of trying and as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Chelmsford town has finally been honoured with the news that it is to be a city.
Chelmsford's MP Simon Burns said he was "delighted" with the news, "it is a tremendous honour for the town and will bring considerable joy to the local community."
He went on to say he had always been "surprised" that Essex did not have a city within its boundaries, and said it "was a proud moment for the town".
