For young and learner drivers with disabilities, Donington Park is hosting an exciting driving programme on the 14th of July.
Get Going Live! is a series of free one-day driving events run by the team behind the annual national Mobility Roadshow, Mobility Choice, and Disabled Motoring UK.
Individuals can attend the event and learn what car will be best suited to their personal requirements, what adaptions might be needed, and which Motability scheme they might qualify for. The event will also answers questions on Blue Badges and finding driving instructors with the right skills to teach people with a range of disabilities.
The event is set to take place at the Donington Park Launch Pad, Derbyshire. Attendees must be over 14 to test drive one of the adapted vehicles, but younger prospective learners are also welcome to come along and practise transferring, familiarising themselves with controls, and also travel in one of the test drive cars as a passenger with an instructor.
A variety of models are on offer for test driving, from Ford, Nissan, and Peugeot, to Vauxhall and SEAT; all will be fitted with a variety of adaptions.
There will also be an action-packed programme of activities, including a seven metre all-ability climbing wall and an Autoadpat Driver Station which has been set up to test your on-road reactions.
Last year’s Get Going Live! day was voted “simply fantastic” by its participants. Stephanie Leaf, a visitor to the inaugural event, said: “The Get Going event was brilliant for me to be able to test drive cars.”
“As I use hand controls you can’t go to a dealer and test drive the cars there. The whole day was just a fantastic experience, not to be missed.”
Two other Get Going Live! 2012 events take place on 28th July at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, and 11th August at the TRL site, Wokingham, Berkshire
