11.5 million fund to tackle loneliness opens
In partnership with the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Big Lottery Fund and Co-op Foundation, the £11.5 million Building Connections fund has been set up in response to the Jo Cox commission on loneliness.
The main funding programme worth £9 million will focus on reaching out to lonely people of all ages.
Loneliness projects focusing on young people can apply for funding through the £2 million youth funding strand, opening August 2018.
Funding for youth groups
Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government
An £250,000 investment into national youth groups has been announced.
The additional funding will be used to promote integration through building a national network of youth champions and will develop lasting relationships between young people from different backgrounds.
The Work, Health and Challenge Fund
The £4.2 million Work, Health and Challenge Fund (WHU) is seeking to fund 20 initiatives that test new approaches to help people experiencing mental health and/or musculoskeletal (MSK) issues to stay in work.
WHU are looking to fund the following initiatives:
Developing new approaches to help employers and individuals develop workplace solutions, or ways of working that facilitate greater participation of people experiencing these conditions
Helping people stay in work by increasing their ability to self-manage their conditions
Helping people access advice and support about what sort of work they might be capable of doing given their wider needs and circumstances
Improving systems by joining up services to strengthen communication, liaison or joint action
Who can apply: Employers, charities, social enterprises, local authorities and health bodies from across England, Scotland and Wales.
Maximum grant: Discretionary
A minimum of £50,000 must be applied for. For further information, read the guidance.
