Scope’s Get Together Event

Find out about Scope’s Local People Programme in Southend which has grant money available for developing projects to improve health, wellbeing and to reduce social isolation for;
- disabled people aged 12-65 with any physical or mental illness, impairment or additional need
- unpaid carers of those people above, including parent carers of children aged up to 11
- close family members
Come to an engagement event and sign up as a participant and have your say about issues that are important to you. Where do you want to see changes? What would make a difference to your life?
Brainstorm ideas and solutions, make new friends, develop ideas and chat. Vote on new submitted grant applications, speak to invited guests, expand your skills and try activities, hear about how approved grant projects are going.
Fill out an application form for a grant and make a difference to people in your community. Support is available if you need it. Then submit it for review and agreement by the “Get Together Group” that meets monthly. A project can be an activity, a campaign, skills training or anything else that supports disabled people and/or carers that meets the community needs identified. The next meeting is at SAVS. Just drop in, it is informal.
Average grant amounts awarded so far have been between £2,000 and £3,000.It can be less if that is the request.
