Carers UK and Nutricia are working together to publish a new resource that is set to help provide advice to relatives about caring for a loved one.
The new leaflet, which will be given to family members when Nutricia nurses visit their patients' homes, will give advice to carers about the financial and practical support they can receive.
With over six million people currently providing unpaid care in the UK, many families are missing out on vital information about services that could make all the difference to their lives. Carers UK research shows that up to four out of 10 carers could be missing out on Carer's Allowance, worth nearly £3,000 a year.
Recent research also revealed that not getting the right information about benefits can hit carers hard. Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed said their finances had been affected by caring, and one in six have had to give up their job.
Heléna Herklots, Chief Executive of Carers UK said: "So many carers don't know where to turn and end up without the right care and support, which can have a devastating effect on their health, well-being and finances.
"We aim to change that by working in partnership with organisations like Nutricia.
"This initiative is a great way to reach carers who simply do not know what other help is out there with caring."
Including giving key advice, the leaflet will direct families to Carers UK's dedicated services which provide specialist information for those who need it.
Carers UK and Nutricia are also sponsoring an award at tomorrow's British Care Awards. An event that helps celebrate the contribution of carers who go the extra mile to volunteer within their local communities.
