Heritage Open Days Continues


Dozens of properties will be open to the public again during the 15th/16th of September, giving you the opportunity to explore the town’s heritage for free.

Many of the properties are not normally open to the public, and several are hosting special events, tours and talks that will give you a special insight into the town’s unique history.

Knightzzz At The Museum!
The Ultimate Camping Experience

If you are looking for a unique venue to have a sleepover why not join in with Colchester Castle’s family friendly sleepover – Knightzzz at the Museum on Saturday 20 October. Test your bravery and bed down for the night in Europe’s largest Norman keep. Sleep anywhere from the spooky cells to the calming Chapel and join us for a very special camping experience.

It’s never too early to plan ahead and next month join us at Hollytrees Museum for a Halloween celebration! Head down to a spooky craft session on Tuesday 23 October where children (and we’re sure parents alike!) will have plenty of fun crafting their very own spooky clay skulls ready in plenty of time for Halloween! Sessions will be running throughout the morning at 10.30, 11.30 and 12.30 so hurry as places are limited.

Enjoy a special dark tour of Colchester Castle with the Castle’s expert guides on Friday 26 October as they delight with stories of the darker side of the Castle’s past. Suitable for ages 12+ it’s a great way to find out more about Colchester’s historic past and bloody history!
