Sometimes just being able to open the blinds and let the light in can change the atmosphere of the room. Being able to control light and heat is a basic need that has remarkable results in changing the feeling within a room. If a person cannot reach or operate window blinds, having a simple solution such as remote control or voice activation, can bring freedom to the operator and help independent living.

Thomas Sanderson has taken time to develop a collection of window stylings to ensure they offer their customers a choice of products that meet their needs, both practically and aesthetically. The result is an extensive range of beautiful, functional blinds and a quality of craftmanship that is second to none. Bringing innovation to your home, Thomas Sanderson is proud to introduce their new, cutting-edge system. This allows you to operate your blinds remotely, from across the room or across the other side of the world via your smart phone or tablet. With complete control from the palm of your hand and settings to suit any mood or occasion; it’s the simplest and most convenient way to power your window dressings.

Case Study

Customer has the early stage of motor neuron disease. They have converted the conservatory into a bedroom, by making the roof solid. Thus, giving a downstairs bedroom with the best views and quality of life. Customer called in Thomas Sanderson and asked for a solution to 3 issues:

1 – Heat in the summer (Customer needed it to be cool in the day and dim out for sleep).

2 – Cold in the winter (Customer needed insulation to keep the heat in during the winter and create an atmosphere of light).

3 – Customer needed to be able to access the operation of the blinds as his life changed throughout the illness.

Thomas Sanderson sent out a designer who listened to the Customer’s needs. Also the changing demands that would arise as time went on. After the free consultation, the best solution was reached, and the following was ordered.

Automation

Fully automated system that is operated by a pebble remote (ergonomic design, so the Customer could hold it and operate easily.) A fully integrated hub that linked to mobile and tablet, so his partner and close family could operate when called upon.

Linked to voice commands through Google or Alexa (Third Party App, free to download.) Thus giving the customer the freedom to operate his blinds by voice commands, as he was concerned his hand movement would be impaired by the disease.

Product window stylings

The best product chosen for the Customer’s needs, would repel heat in the summer and insulate in the winter. This was a Dim-out Duette floating system, battery operated (so no cables needed). Over the doors, a Laura Ashley ‘Truffle’ Duette tension blind fitted snuggly into the glass.

Thomas Sanderson offer a comprehensive range of window stylings that are designed to support and encourage independent living. Their bespoke window stylings are fully operational by remote control, giving you the freedom to operate by yourself, or a loved one, home or away.

These systems are now available in the UK and can be installed into any home or commercial setting. Thomas Sanderson can help with designing your perfect solution and tailor it to your individual and changing needs. With the ability to operate the blinds using voice control, the system is accessible for people with limited mobility.
